The Alarm Clock That Demands Push-Ups

Jake, 24, built Early — an alarm you can only silence by doing push-ups on camera. Nineteen days from idea to App Store, $50K a month by month four. The lesson is uncomfortable for builders: the product was the easy part.

Early is one feature: the alarm goes off, and it will not stop until the camera watches you do your push-ups. That single mechanic is painful enough to pay for ($9.99/month) and visual enough to sell itself in a six-second clip — which is exactly how it grew, seeding 'day in the life' creators on TikTok at $2–3 CPM. First influencer video seven days after launch; $1K three weeks later; $50K MRR by month four.

Jump to 4:18 — 'If it's painful, people will pay. If it's simple, it's easy to show the value in content.'

Building doesn't really matter so much. What really matters is marketing. So I prioritized that over everything.

Jake, maker of Early

The timing detail worth stealing: he'd shipped a weaker accountability app, paused, and pivoted the day Apple's AlarmKit API landed — turning a gimmick into a native, reliable alarm. Platform APIs are launch windows. Someone is reading the release notes; it may as well be you.
